St. Vincent's Medical Center is uniquely staffed to address a broad range of back and spine-related conditions and offers the most advanced treatment options. Dr. Gerard Girasole is Director of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery and Co-Medical Director of Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
Dr. Gerard J. Girasole, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, has extensive experience in the treatment of lumbar disc disease, neck pain, scoliosis, herniated discs and spinal stenosis in both operative and non-operative techniques. He is on the forefront of minimally-invasive surgical techniques for patients with low back pain and he is very active in the training of other surgeons in the various techniques. He is also actively involved in computer-assisted robotic spine surgery. Dr. Girasole currently serves as the chief of spine orthopaedics and is the medical co-director of the new Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
Dr. Girasole completed his Spinal Fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Disease in New York City. He is very active in the Academic Society for the Spine and teaches several accredited spinal courses yearly. He is also an adjunct instructor for medical students at Quinnipiac University. Dr. Girasole is a member of the Spine Universe Editorial Board where he shares articles and studies information on current surgical procedures, as well as, advances in minimally-invasive spinal surgery.
